0 How To Speed-up Shutdown Speed In Windows XP

Some days back,I posted a tutorial on ‘How To Speed Up Windows XP Start Menu’ and in today's post,we'll be quickly brushing-through the process on how to increase Shutdown speed in windows xp.

Note that editing the registry is very sensitive.Therefore,it is recommended you do not do otherwise from the steps below.
To increase your PC's shutdown speed,follow these steps »

  1. Click on Start » Run(WINDOW KEY+R)
  2. Type Regedit and hit “Enter”.
  3. Next,navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control and in the right pane,right-click on “WaitToKillServiceTimeout” and select “Modify”
  4. Change the default value from '12000'(12 sec.) and type-in a new value between 2000(2 sec.) & 20000(20 sec.)
  5. "OK" it.
  6. Exit the Registry and Restart your PC to confirm changes.
That's all.

If you're still not satisfied with the shutdown speed,or your system shuts down too quickly,then you can easily change its value from the last step above until you're satisfied.

0 How To Enable/Disable Automatic Spellings-Check In Firefox

In case you noticed the spellings check feature is not enabled in your Firefox browser,here's a quick fix for that OR peradventure the feature bores you due to one reason or another,we'll be learning how to easily disable them in this post.

There are two methods/ways which can be employed to carry-out this order,therefore we'll be touching those two methods for you to decide which is easier.

Enable/Disable Automatic Spell-check In Firefox


Method 1 »
  1. Click on the Firefox menu, then select Options » Options
    (If you have Menu-Bar enabled,select Tools » Options instead)
  2. Select 'Advanced' tab and check the box which states "Check my spelling as I type" under the General tab to turn spell checker on.
  3. To turn it off,just Uncheck the box
Method 2 »
  1. Type about:config in Firefox's address bar and hit "Enter"
  2. Search for “layout.spellcheckDefault” and double click it.
  3. Now,change its value to 2 to enable the spell-check feature.
    To disable it,just change its value to integer “0”.
That's all.

Note »
The automatic spell-check feature is only turned-on for text boxes containing more than ONE LINE,
i.e where you can enter as much text as you want.

1 How To Speed Up Windows XP Start Menu

If you're not satisfied with the slight sluggishness of the ‘Start’ menu in Windows XP,here's an easy way to give it a lightening speed.
Note »This trick has to do with editing the Registry.Therefore,be careful not to do beyond what you're told.

So,for a faster response of the start menu,follow the steps below.

  1. Click on ‘Start’ » Run or just hold Window key + R
  2. Type Regedit in the textbox and hit Enter.
  3. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop and double-click on the folder desktop.
  4. Once double-clicked on,some key files will appear at the Right Panel.
    Locate ‘MenuShowDelay’ and double click on it.
  5. Now,change the value in the textbox from either 400 or 200 to 0(or any digit you want) and ‘OK’ it.
  6. Note :
    The lower the integer,the faster the menu responds.

0 How To View up to Three Different TimeZones At A Time In Windows.

  1. Left-click Clock area in taskbar(to view large clock).
  2. Click on the “Change date & time settings” option at the bottom.
  3. From the pop-up window,select ‘Additional Clocks’ tab.
  4. Now locate the text ‘Show this clock’ and check the boxes just like in the image below.
    And under each clock preferences,customize the settings i.e choose the required time zone and give the additional clock a display name.
  5. Once done,click on Apply,then ‘OK’ it.

To view the clocks now,just left-click on the Clock area again.

2 How To Easily Create New Folders On Computer Using Keyboard

This trick has been verified working on Windows 7...above,as they prove to be more user friendly unlike the previous versions of Windows OS.

So now,to create a new folder easily and stress-free,all you need do is click and hold the following key combination...
“Ctrl+Shift+N”.
Note »Just like the old method of folder creation,the new folder will be created on your current directory.

Step On How To Upload Blogger Templates From Mobile Devices

    Login toBlogger Dashboard
  1. Select the blog you want to upload the template (if you have more than one) and click on “Template” just like in the image below.
  2. Next,click on “Backup / Restore”
  3. Scroll down a little to see an Upload Form.
    Click on the 'Upload' text area to choose which template to upload

    Using UCBrowser,you'll see four upload options.
    Just Select “Upload local file” and browse to the folder containing the desired template then finally click on it.
  4. Now comes the normal issue people encounter while uploading template - The ‘Upload’ button doesn't work.
    But instead of clicking 'Upload' now,just locate the 'settings tool' below the text box(just as in the image below) and click on it
  5. Wait for the page to finish loading.
    Note: Do not exit the page.
  6. Once the template finish uploading and refreshes the page,you will find a new Upload Form at the extreme end of the page.
    Re-select the earlier uploaded template and now,the new ‘Upload’ button will work just fine.
  7. NOTE »
    This trick(I call it) has been tested positive in Symbian S60 devices with a UCBrowser,but has proved abortive in a Java mobile phone,so you can give it a try on your device to see how well it goes.

You can now preview your blog to see the new template on it.
